Since 2001, Umid supervises over reception and warehousing of non-food humanitarian assistance items brought to Azerbaijan under UNHCR-line, realizes their allocation and distribution, and bears responsibility to take their inventory once a year.
Distribution of non-food relief items to the refugee, IDPs and the local vulnerable people living in the same area with them continues in 2005. Relief items are being distributed in accordance with the distribution plan and UNHCR approval.
2340 families of Fuzuli, Gabala, Absheron regions and Baku city were provided with humanitarian relief items in January-March of 2005. More than 10.000 people benefited from the distribution of the following relief items:
Quilts -5940 items;
Layettes - 578 items;
School supply -1360 items;
Sewing kits -268 items;
Hygienic kits -1961 items;
Soap - 315 kg;
Clothing for women - 2040 items;
Clothing for children -1984 items;
Sweater -2781 items;
Coat -1023 items.
Needs of the vulnerable people are under assessment, and distribution of humanitarian relief items is going on at present.
