The next THM on SPPRED was arranged in Mingechevir on May 5-6, 2004
The THM was held under the support of USAID, World Learning, UNDP, GTZ and SPPRED Secretariat by local NGOs of "Umid” Humanitarian and Social Support Center ("Umid” HSSC) and "Simurg” Association of Azerbaijan Culture ("Simurg” AAC).
The aim of the THM was to provide information about the progress of the Program, to organize opinion sharing in a direction of improving efficiency of events put forward by the Government on various sectors envisaged in the Program, generally, to organize effective dialog between civil society and central Implementation Agencies.
Head and experts of SPPRED Secretariat provided information on civil society participation process in implementation stage and its importance, Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), SPPRED monitoring and evaluation process, civil society participation in the process, answered the questions that the public representatives were interested in, and attended the discussions.
Meeting participants arranged discussions on 4 sectors – Refugees and IDPs, Health, Education and Economic Development. Sector Working Groups’ leaders informed participants about events envisaged in and conducted within the framework of the program on various sectors and took part at the discussions.
During 2-day discussions, meeting participants presented their suggestions on events envisaged in the Program.
85 people took part at the meeting including public representatives from Mingechevir, Goychay, Agdash and Yevlakh.
Besides, the Country Director of USAID, representatives of World Learning, UNDP, World Vision, head and experts of SPPRED Secretariat took part at the meeting.
