The THM was held under the support of USAID, World Learning, UNDP, GTZ and SPPRED Secretariat by local NGOs of "Umid” Humanitarian and Social Support Center ("Umid” HSSC) and "Simurg” Association of Azerbaijan Culture ("Simurg” AAC).
The aim of the THM was to provide information about the progress of the Program, to organize opinion sharing in a direction of improvement of the implementation and efficiency of events put forward by the Government on various sectors envisaged in the Program, generally, to organize effective dialog between civil society and central Implementation Agencies.
Experts of SPPRED Secretariat provided information about education campaign and monitoring process in SPPRED implementation stage, as well as Millennium Development Goals (MDG) within the framework of SPPRED and answered questions in which public representatives are interested in.
Meeting participants arranged discussions on 4 sectors – Municipality, Economic Development, Education, Ecology and Tourism. leaders of Sector Working Groups provided information to participants about events envisaged in and conducted within the framework of the program on various sectors and took part at the discussions.
During 2-day discussions, meeting participants presented their suggestions on events envisaged in the Program.
78 people took part at the meeting including public representatives from Guba, Khachmaz, Davachi, Siyazan and Gusar regions.
Besides, representatives of World Learning, UNDP, ADB and experts of SPPRED Secretariat took part at the meeting.
Next THM will be arranged in Shemakha on July 01-02 2004.
