On November 29, 2022, a round table was held on the topic of "Presentation of the results of the survey performed with the aim of studying the current state of community-school relations" within the framework of the project titled "Initiative to support the socialization of management in education" implemented by the "Umid" Social Development Support Public Union ("Umid” SSD) with the financial support of the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The round table was attended by the management of "Umid" SSD, members of the Public Council under the Ministry of Science and Education, directors of several secondary schools operating in Baku, staff members of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical College under ASPU, heads of NGOs working in the field of education, staff members of the Institute of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Baku Education Department.
The event was opened by Israyil Isgandarov, the Executive director of "Umid" SSD, who also provided information about the project carried out and the investigation of school-community relations as part of the project in the secondary schools No. 280 in Hovsan community of Surakhani district and No. 262 in Turkan community of Khazar district.
Gunel Safarova, the chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Science and Education, discussed in her speech the deliberate efforts made by the Ministry of Education to examine school-community relations and to put the school-community collaboration model into practice. According to her, the community’s strong involvement in the school’s educational process will significantly strengthen relations between the school and the community and boost the school’s reputation.
The purpose of the event was to present the findings of the survey performed by "Umid" SSD in Hovsan community of Surakhani district and Turkan community of Khazar district in Baku to examine the state of community-school ties at the time.
The survey’s findings were addressed at the event. Umud Mirzayev, president of International Eurasian Press Foundation, Nadir Israfilov, education expert, Mehriban Zeynalova, head of "Clean World" Women's Aid Public Union, Kamala Aghazadeh, head of Azerbaijan Children's Union, and other speakers spoke about the implementation of necessary measures to enhance school-community relations and increase the role of parents and community members in the educational process.
At the conclusion of the event, suggestions were offered to enhance community-school relations and ensure active participation of community members in the educational process of the school.
