As part of the project titled "IDP Community Mobilization and Capacity Development in Mingachevir, Goranboy, and Yevlakh,” which is funded by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and carried out by "Umid” Support to Social Development Public Union, a selection meeting of target communities was held on March 30, 2023. Members of the "Project Steering Management and Evaluation Committee” (PSMEC) attended the meeting, including the project team and project manager of "Umid” SSD PU, the head of Mingachevir Parent Association, a representative from UNHCR, and officials from the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs in the Yevlakh and Goranboy regions. Throughout the meetings, detailed information on the project was provided, pertinent data was gathered, and potential areas of cooperation were discussed.
A selection meeting of target communities was held within the UNHCR’s project related to IDPs
The Committee members were made aware of the information gathered at the preliminary research sessions held in the short-listed IDP communities (12 communities) in Mingachevir, Yevlakh, and Goranboy during the hybrid meeting held at Yevlakh regional office of "Umid” SSD PU. Based on the provided information, PSMEC discussed and evaluated each researched community in accordance with the selection criteria (number of IDP families, the level of youth and women's involvement, the level of community interest, the level of community needs, etc.). Following the evaluation process, 2 communities in Mingachevir (Yeni Həyat, "Kür” mehmanxanası), 2 communities in Yevlakh (32-ci məhəllə, Malbinəsi), and 2 communities in Goranboy (Aşağı Ağcakənd, Yeni Veyisli) were initially selected for cooperation in the project.
