On September 12th, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, officially inaugurated the newly redesigned "Azerbaijan" room at the Geneva branch of the United Nations. This event was graced by the presence of Tatyana Valovaya, Director General of the Geneva branch of the UN, as well as permanent representatives from several countries in Geneva.
During the ceremony, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Director General Tatyana Valovaya underscored the invaluable contribution of the "Azerbaijan" room to the effective operations of the UN Office in Geneva.
The renovation project for this room, initially established by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in 2007, commenced in 2022. The refurbishment included the installation of state-of-the-art technology, including numerous monitors, cameras, audio-video equipment, and related accessories. Furthermore, advanced programming was integrated into the room, enabling globally synchronized meetings, presentations, and gatherings.
The room's design prominently features elements of Azerbaijani culture and heritage. As one enters, captivating photographs depicting Azerbaijan's rich history and natural beauty adorn the space, complemented by intricate network elements. Specially designed photos showcasing Azerbaijan's architectural marvels are also showcased. Additionally, the room proudly displays a Karabakh carpet, network exhibit, and traditional mugham music instruments.
This remarkable project was made possible through the efforts of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation with support from the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the UN. It's worth noting that only a select few countries have had the privilege of establishing their own dedicated rooms within the Geneva Office of the UN. These country rooms serve as venues for various sessions, meetings, and events during UN activities. In this context, the presence and activities of the Azerbaijan room within such a prestigious setting hold immense significance in terms of promoting the country on the international stage.
