Today Marks the International Day of Older Persons
On December 14, 1990, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution designating October 1 as the International Day of Older Persons. Originally celebrated in Europe and later in America, by the late 1990s, this day became a global observance.
The primary goal behind establishing this day is to promote the active engagement of the elderly in family and community life, while also advocating for their rights and needs.
