The United Nations (UN) has officially designated January 24 as International Education Day. This marks the inaugural celebration of the International Education Day following its proclamation by the UN General Assembly in December.

The UN resolution underscores education as a pivotal factor in the sustainable development of every nation. On this day, member states are urged to prioritize the inclusive quality of education and implement additional measures in this critical domain.

In honor of the International Day of Education, UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, in a congratulatory letter, emphasized that this significant decision underscores the vital role of education in advancing the action program "Transforming our world: the 2030 agenda for sustainable development."
