Today, February 2, is celebrated as Azerbaijan Youth Day, a significant occasion linked to the legacy of the national leader Heydar Aliyev. Known for his unwavering attention and care towards young people, Heydar Aliyev placed special emphasis on initiatives aimed at addressing their issues.
In recognition of his commitment, Heydar Aliyev signed a decree on February 2, 1997, designating this day as Azerbaijan Youth Day. Since then, Azerbaijan has been at the forefront, being the first among the CIS and Eastern European countries to observe this day, surpassing many nations in various domains.
Beyond national boundaries, Heydar Aliyev's influence extended to the global stage. Following the establishment of Youth Day in Azerbaijan, on August 8-12, 1998, the UN General Assembly, prompted by a recommendation from the World Conference of Ministers on Youth Affairs, declared August 12 as International Youth Day on December 17, 1999.
Heydar Aliyev's visionary leadership further manifested in the creation of a robust legislative framework for youth affairs. His decrees, orders, and state programs aimed at addressing the social and economic aspects of young people stand as exemplary models for successful state policy implementation in the realm of youth development.
