Since mid-March 2016, Armenians have escalated violations of the ceasefire. On the night of April 1-2, Azerbaijani Army positions and settlements along the entire front came under enemy fire. This aggression continued with armed provocations by Armenians along the contact line from April 2 to 5, targeting both military and civilian populations. Tragically, Azerbaijani soldiers were martyred, and civilians suffered casualties and injuries.
In response, our army launched counter-offensives, liberating over 2,000 hectares of our lands and securing additional strategic areas. Heights surrounding Talysh village, posing a threat to Goranboy region and Naftalan city, were cleared of enemy forces. Lalatepa hill was also seized to safeguard Horadiz from enemy threats.
These military actions resulted in the deaths of 320 Armenian soldiers and over 500 injuries. Regrettably, 88 Azerbaijani servicemen lost their lives.
On April 5, operations along the Azerbaijani-Armenian contact line were halted at 12:00 following an agreement between the Chiefs of Staff of both countries' Armed Forces in Moscow.
Post-victory efforts included repair and restoration in Jojug Marjanli village (Jabrayil district), formerly threatened by the enemy. A new settlement was established, allowing displaced individuals to return to their ancestral homes.
