According to the Decree signed by National Leader Heydar Aliyev on June 4, 2001, June 17 is celebrated as the professional holiday of medical workers in our country. Under the leadership of the Great Leader, significant attention was devoted to healthcare, resulting in remarkable progress in Azerbaijan's healthcare system. Strengthening the material and technical base of medical institutions, adopting new medical technologies, implementing fundamental personnel reforms, and other measures have elevated healthcare to the level of leading countries worldwide. Rehabilitation and construction of medical facilities, establishment of modern hospitals in regions, and the introduction of a health insurance system represent key directions of healthcare reforms.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, consistently acknowledges the dedication of doctors, particularly during the global COVID-19 pandemic. On June 9, he expressed appreciation during the inauguration of three modular hospitals in Baku, Sumgait, and Saray settlements of Absheron region, emphasizing, "Doctors risk their lives, spend months away from their families, and work tirelessly in special conditions day and night to save lives. The low mortality rate in our country is a testament to their professionalism and dedication. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to them."

First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva, is widely admired for her initiatives supporting diabetic and thalassemia patients, organizing treatment programs, promoting blood donation campaigns, and enhancing healthcare for mothers and children.

On this professional holiday, we extend our congratulations to all medical workers who tirelessly safeguard public health day and night. We wish them continued success in their noble and vital work. Healing the sick and offering hope is both essential and sacred. May your hands remain steady and strong in this honorable endeavor.

Happy holiday!
