Socio-Economic Development Activity in Azerbaijan
East-West Management Institute (EWMI) implementated 5-years Socio-Economic Development Activity (SEDA) project in Azerbaijan with strategic partnership of "Umid” Support to Social Development Public Union ("Umid” SSD PU) and International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL) under joint financing of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Government of Azerbaijan. The aim of the Socio-Economic Development Activity was to support infrastructure projects proposed by communities and to increase civic participation in governance to address social and economic needs in the regions of Azerbaijan. All of these achieved through realization of three project components:
East-West Management Institute worked closely together with "Umid” SSD PU, leading organization in economic development sector in Azerbaijan under the Component 1:Establish or re-establish of more than 100 Community Development Councils in Aran, Guba-Khachmaz and the third region;
Building capacity of Community Development Councils through training, forming relations, information and experience sharing; and
Support implementation of 150 infrastructure and 12 cluster projects. "Umid” SSD PU undertakes realization of commitments on Component 1. of "Socio-Economic Development Activity in Azerbaijan" project. Under Component 2. East-West Management Institute and Partners formed close relations among partner organizations belonging to non-governmental, governmental and private sector undertaking socio-economic development activities in regions.
Under Component 3. East-West Management Institute and Partners strengthened the capacity of the GOAJ to engage with stakeholders on key socio-economic development issues.
