The project implemented under the financial support of UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
The project goal is the improvement of education condition of IDP schoolchildren and increase the parental initiative.
Project undertakings:

Improvement of the education condition in 4 newly selected and 2 previously supported IDP schools located in Sumgait and near areas;

Achieve sustainable development of the Teacher-Parent Association (TPA), mobilization of community resources, formation of community-donor relations;

Foster creation of sustainable TPA to be turned into Community Based Organizations (CBO) and form relations with these groups;

Encourage IDPs to participate in the management of their schools, and mobilize the communities to ensure that the community as a whole understands the importance of access to basic education.
4 schools were selected during the first quarter through the assessment.
Taking into consideration the need for repair and rehabilitation, communities’ readiness for the formation and sustainable development of TPA, as well as community groups’ need for the organizational development, the project was decided to be implemented in 4 newly selected schools (Jabrayil region secondary school #5, Shusha secondary school #10, Lachin region secondary school #21 and Fuzuli region secondary school #54), as well as in Fuzuli region secondary school #40 and Lachin region Imanlar rural school supported in 2004.
Target schools were technically reviewed, and estimates of the repair and rehabilitation works to be conducted in schools were elaborated.
The initial stage of the community mobilization process completed in the newly selected schools. Community meetings were arranged in the schools, the population were informed about the project, and Initiative Groups were formed.
3 coordination meetings were conducted in order to achieve integration of TPA and CBO, and solve the problems jointly.
