"Effective Usage of Energy Resources by Communities and Improvement of Access to Alternative Energy Sources” project has been launched in November of 2003. Focusing on the aim of raising awareness of the people about effective usage of energy resources, this joint BP, IFC and OSCE project undertook the below described objectives:

  • Demonstrate cost-effective means for consumers to reduce energy usage;

  • Reduce consumption of electric energy through its effective usage, demonstrate methods and tools to increase a quality;

  • Demonstrate methods and experience on identification of needs of local communities for the energy and local resources to meet their needs, as well as their effective usage.

Taking into consideration the wide scope of project and its impact, the project is intended to be realized in the following three stages:

The first stage: Analyses and preparation of the project;
The second stage: Energy Bus’ design and preparation for the demonstration;
The third stage: Demonstration in communities.

The objectives of Preparation to Design of the Bus and Demonstration stage were:

  • To improve and finalize the internal and external design of the Bus;

  • To arrange test demonstration on pre-community demonstrations period, to improve design and educational materials based on the outcomes of the test demonstrations;

  • To develop contingency, emergency response plans, management structure of the Energy Bus, operational instructions, safety issues;

  • To instruct the staff members and develop their training capacities;

  • To develop communication and execution for the project.

To evaluate the project implementation and improve the demonstrations, it was agreed to arrange test demonstrations for Umid and BP’s staff.

The participants of the demonstrations were provided with the information about the project and donors, Bus’ design, cabins and models within the EB, as well as safety instructions.

Beside all above-mentioned, working models of solar panel and sawdust heater were demonstrated outside of the Bus.
In addition to the demonstrations in the communities, post-primary schoolchildren were provided with the information about the insulation works, cost-effective usage of the energy, structure, usage and technical indicators of the sawdust heater, structure and technical indicators of the solar panel.
