As of July 2017, "Umid" Social Development Support Public Union had begun to implement the project titled "Organizing Activities on Publicizing NGOs Sustainability Index and Public Benefit" with the financial support of the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and technical support of Azerbaijan University of Tourism and Management. The project had been implemented for 5 months (July 1 - December 1, 2017).

Objective of the project:

Dividing NGOs into quality categories and increasing public activity in the process of assessing the status of NGOs

Expected results:

- the experience of at least 3 international regions on "public benefit organizations" and the report on the situation in at least 5 countries on "Determination of the Sustainability Index of NGOs" will be studied, analyzed and prepared in the form of initial materials in Azerbaijani;

- by participating in the discussions on "Public benefit organizations" and "Determination of the Sustainability Index of NGOs", at least 100 people will increase their knowledge about the essence and important elements of these topics, i.e., they will i) learn criteria, legal basis, accountability for determining "Public benefit organizations" in Azerbaijan, ii) make more accurate and substantiated answers in accordance with the national interests of Azerbaijan during the surveys on "Determination of the Sustainability Index of NGOs”;

- the themes of "Public benefit organizations" and "Determination of the Sustainability Index of NGOs" will be included in teaching/learning materials, and a teaching/learning material will be prepared for each of them. As a result of this activity, at least 120 students will gain an understanding of these themes;

- at least 3,500 people will be aware of the issues of "Public benefit organizations" and "Determination of the Sustainability Index of NGOs" and at least 250 people will gain an understanding of this theme.
